Strange activity has been reported in the vicinity of the Tree of Life, which – given the gargantuan size it has grown to ever since they ventured into the dimension hidden within it – means signs of the same sort of strange activity can be seen all over Sootopolis City if one looks well enough.

Flowers bloom near the tree’s roots, bearing crystals that shine at night and attract pokémon with their light. Crystablooms, scientists had been quick to dub them. Kind of on the nose, in his personal opinion, but hey, Mars is no botanist.

He is, however, one of Team Rocket’s admins, and as such he finds himself wanting to know that these strange blooms won't cause any problems in the syndicate-controlled city. It’s why he meets Raphael Pryde by the tree just as night falls. The official reason, at least, because admittedly, there’s also other reasons why he’s interested in these bioluminescent blooms. Endless curiosity, for starters, but also the fact that while most entries in the Unown Report relate to Astrophysics, deities and legends, or dreams and desires, a few of them for some reason seem to relate to botany…

With new things appearing in Hoenn Pryde was more than curious to take a look at them himself. Thankfully now he has built a new arm for himself so he feels better about going around the region again and going investigating with people he's not as familiar with, such as Admin Martín del Mar. [break][break]

As the other ask about it the older man decides to get closer as he lifts up part of his jacket to reveal up to his forearm for his Rotom Arm. After a part of it comes out of it as it gets closer to the crystal as if gives it a scan and tries to do a search as if it were Reserve Google Image. [break][break]

"It does seem to have an odd energy to it, and sadly I don't recall seeing it from the tree however considering the time space distortions," because he doesn't want to used the other way, "maybe its something lingering? Something from the past and rather than it disappearing something is causing them to stay?" he gives a theory as the Rotom continues to analyze.

While watching the head scientist scan the crystabloom with his artificial arm, Mars considers the theory, reminders coming to mind of the strange shards that sometimes appear within time-space distortions. Are these flowers something like that, then?

”Could be… Like those red and blue shards that have appeared in distortions before.” He voices the thought out loud, being that he finds himself in possession of both of these. Should they be studying those too? Comparing them to the flowers? Still, these blooms are living organisms; ones that emanate light and seem made as if of glass…

More words from the Unown Report come to mind just as he notices the presence of pokémon in the distance, seeming drawn closer by the bloom’s light – as if moths to fatal flame. For now, he does no more than keep a cautious eye on them.

”I wonder if the flowers are connected or if they sprout randomly. Them being here could have to do with the energy in the area…” His own comment brings reminders of the warnings spoken by the Lake Trio.

Seems possible yes, though while examination haven't shown much from those objects, possibility because they're too weak, this is much stronger," he comments before he brings out a Riolu of his. The hyper riolu jumps from one foot to the other as if show ing they were ready for anything. Pryde whistls to get it's attention, "You are going to help me dig this up, and know there will be corrections should you damage it," he gives the pup warning and the riolu tenses up and just nods nervously before they start to dig around the flower to loosen it. [Break][Break]

The Rotom in his arm seems to react as the flower seems to pulse with it's ground being disturbed. "We might have unwanted company soon, do you consider yourself a decent trainer Del Mar?"

Perhaps in another universe Mars could have been a scientist. If the portrait they found at the strange laboratory beneath the church ruins is to be believed, then there’s a version of him who dedicated his life to the pursuit of scientific discoveries. And how could he not believe it, when he always feels so drawn to such things? Even now, even without having the technical knowledge and understanding, he listens to Raphael Pryde’s explanations with interest while watching the luminescent blooms around them.

Still, the warnings spoken by the Lake Trio won’t leave his mind.

”At least the flowers seem harmless… for the most part. Here’s to hoping they aren’t a sign of something worse to come.”

But, what if they are? The calm before the storm, of sorts. The Lake Trio had said it: energy will be released, and it will ruin everything. Is this what they meant? Is it something else? Mars has never been one to believe in coincidences, and if this is “the calm”, it sure is relative…

”It would be foolish of me not to be a good trainer, wouldn’t it?” A slight smirk tugs at his lips when responding to Doctor Pryde’s question, glancing at the Riolu that continues to carefully dig around the flower. ”Leave the wild pokémon to me.”

That part he definitely can help with, and it’s from a Luxury Ball that a huge bird of black feathers is released. Azure flames flicker over its eyes, and when it flies up, it lets out a loud screech as if a battle cry.

Pryde can't help but give a small chuckle at the other's feeble hope. "As if there hasn't been signs of things going to chaos already," he comments as he gives the admin a look with a knowing smile. If anyone has some foreboding of what's to come it probably would be Martín del Mar. [break][break]

But after he returns to focus on the Riolu to make sure they were doing it correctly, shooing them away when the pup seemed to get too close to a root. "indeed it would be, but having seen a few members this Rocket has hired I'm sure you can understand some concerns," he starts it as a fact rather than a question. [break][break]

Though it seems like their conversation comes to an end as a roar comes and a large comes not seeming to like that the humans were messing with the flower as it goes in to attack.

Out of all people, Mars definitely doesn’t need anyone to remind him of how bad things might soon get; the Darkest Day is active, the Unown-bearing assassins continue to pull off their strange schemes, a meteor is coming Hoenn’s way, and right now, there’s this whole issue with concerning energies.

Hell, he even distinctively remembers the vision he shared with Locke Jamison and Eris Halla, where a monstrous creature killed Yveltal right here at the Tree of Life.

The thought of it brings a sense of unease to the admin, especially with the pokémon lurking nearby.

”Your concerns about them are shared, believe me.” It’s a thought that has dwelled in Mars’ mind after seeing the performance of some grunts. Team Rocket wants their members to be powerful, but perhaps reinforcing the basics of raising and training strong pokémon is where they should start. He puts a pin on that idea, watching as his Braviary turns his attention towards the Scizor.

Another screech cuts through the air, and with it, Boreas flaps his powerful wings. A gale hits the Pincer Pokémon, its SHEER FORCE seeming to light MYSTICAL FIRE upon the steel bug. It lets out a cry when surrounded by flame, but neither Mars nor his Braviary seem affected.

Seems like the other wasn't oblivious to their own possible involvement on everything going on. That was good seems like the admin was much more active than him within the outside world, just as it should be. Seeing as his placement kept him in the labs more often than not. [Break][break]

"It might be shared but is anything being done?" he questions, as he knows in the past some admins made sure their grunts we're ready. For now he gives slight pause to watch the other's Pokemon take on the bug. Taking note of the odd Braviary.[break][break]

Technically speaking, as one of Rocket’s admins, Mars is only in charge of business relations and finance. However, the part of him that’s also CEO of a multinational corporation knows well that for a company to function effectively, there’s few things more fundamental than having competent employees. And, what’s a syndicate if not an illicit company?

”I may have something in the works, actually. You’ll know about it soon if everything goes as planned.” Mars smirks, not bothering to reveal more than that. After all, there’s no point in doing as much right now.

Instead, his attention remains on the Braviary that makes a sharp turn in the air, ready to strike the burning Scizor one more time. ”He is, I caught him in one a few months back. He seems to be Psychic type, look–”

All it takes is Mars whistling once – a quick and sharp sound – for the Braviary to strike once more, all the time the admin spent bonding with it and training it clearly having borne fruit. This time, psychic energy is released by every feather, slashing a Pinsir that jumps out at them with aura-enriched ESPER WINGS.

”Seems like more are appearing, we might want to take our leave soon. How’s the sample?”

It’s only then that his attention turns back to the glowing blooms.
